Hello! My name is Clara, and, as is quite evident by the title of this blog, I am absolutely obsessed with the Barefoot Contessa. I love her recipes. I love the way she uses dish cloths for napkins. I’d pretty much kill for her kitchen (and really her entire home). And I love the way she keeps a stick of butter out just in case. But let’s back up a bit.
I’m originally from New York, but have lived in Washington, DC for the past four years. Just this fall, I moved back to my home state, (this time bringing my boyfriend, Brandon, along with me). We settled into the Williamsburg neighborhood of Brooklyn, and are so excited to call it home. By day I work as an event planner, and most evenings or weekends you can find me in my kitchen or exploring all there is to eat in our new neighborhood.
My love of food and cooking stems from my mom. To say that we ate well growing up would be a huge understatement. She is the ultimate from-scratch cook and I’m constantly inspired by her abilities in the kitchen. Because of my upbringing, I’m a strong supporter of organic and local eating. I strive to prepare food that focuses on seasonal ingredients grown or produced as close to my home as possible. Sometimes the budget wins out, but I do my best to support those who produce food in a truly sustainable way.
I founded Channeling Contessa in January 2011 as a way to share my time in the kitchen. Since then it’s grown into a wonderful outlet to share my recipes, culinary inspirations, and methods for cooking at home with ease. I’m amazed by the support from my readers, and so appreciate you stopping by. I hope you’ll come again soon.
Ps: I absolutely love hearing from my readers! If you have a recipe question or want to share something you made, feel free to comment or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
